One more final !
One more final tomorrow and I'm done with Fall 2011 semester. This is a productive semester, I learned quite a lot. Learned the basic 3D animation using Maya, and a handful of knowledge about color technique. I am a little disappointed about my figure drawing skill though. That's going to be my main focus during the winter break. Oh and I just bought a walcom tablet ! Have to learn photoshop painting as well :)
This is my two painting in 113A class this semester.

Week 11
Word of the week:
Plangent (adj)
Plangent (adj)
1.Beating with a loud or deep sound, as, "the plangent wave."
2.Expressing sadness; plaintive.
This week, I want to share with you a painting calls "The Outsider" by a famous 20th century American Illustrator, Norman Rockwell. The artist is known for his impressive, almost photographic technique. His paintings are beautiful and realistic. This piece depicts a young woman wearing a white dress looking at herself through the big mirror. There is an open magazine placing on top of her lap, and a doll on the floor on the left side of the mirror. The magazine page shows a big picture of a beautiful women’s face. The girls' eyes reflect a sense of confusion. The audience can only see her face through the reflection of the mirror, leaving the question about whether her real face is the same as the one we see in the mirror?

Week 10
Word of the week:
Misnomer (noun)
Misnomer (noun)
1.The misnaming of a person in a legal instrument, as in a complaint or indictment.
2.Any misnaming of a person or thing; also, a wrong or inapplicable name or designation
This week I want to talk about an illustration entitles "Golden Head by Golden Heada", illustration for Christina Rossetti’s Goblin Market and Other Poems (1862). This is a woodblock print. The line designs of this piece is so beautiful. There are so much tension in the hands but the facial expression is calm. The way their head tiled give so much emotions to the piece. It makes me want to be in place of the girl who sleep so peacefully in her man's arms. Above to the lefts are the illustration of their dreams, which is bright and spirited.
