Week 6

Word of the day:

Aver: (transitive verb)
1.To affirm with confidence; to declare in a positive manner, as in confidence of asserting the truth.

2.(Law) To assert, claim, or declare as a fact.

Art is not only an object to look at, but most of the time it contains some kind of message that engage the viewer to think about. For example, the series of shots at the Trash Batch from a photographer names Chris Jordan gave the viewer a wake up call on what's going on in our world. The images in his show are haunting and apparently uneasy to look at, but it keeps the viewers interests for a long time and keep them think about the artist's main object being the bird's decomposing body revealing its stomach full of trash and all kind dirty everyday objects.

Week 5

The San Jose Art Museum is having this India art festival calls “Art Rage: Batchit”, which includes Bollywood-style beats from India, specialty cocktails, creative art experiences, and social networking. This was the first time I’ve been to something like this in a museum. The music and the atmosphere gave me the feeling that I’m in the middle of a party. The visitors not only get to see arts from India modern and contemporary artists, they can also have a hand on experience with paper sculpture making “The Tree of Life”. I’d made one, and it’s amazing how the design could stand on its roots as well as on its branches. Over all, this is a great experience for me, I wonder if they will have one for another country’s art like Vietnam.
